An oval (flat-oval) profile pipe is a niche but important type of rolled steel: it is chosen when it is necessary to combine the strength of a square with the ergonomics of a rounded shape. Most often, it is used to make handrails, sports simulators, children's slides, chair backs, and frames that people touch with their hands. Features of oval caps

The oval profile has two different axes — a large and a small one (for example, 30x15 mm), so the plug for it is always asymmetrical. This creates three features that are not found in square or round:

— Orientation is critical. The cork "fits" into the pipe in only one position; it is impossible to turn it 90° like a square.
— The forms of the hat are simpler. Most often — flat or slightly convex; complex pyramids and spheres are almost never made here, because the aesthetics of handrails and simulators do not require it.
— The choice of color is narrower. The main working color is black; gray and white are less common and mostly made to order.

Flat oval vs oval: don't get confused

In everyday life, they often say "oval pipe", but in rolled metal, the most common is a flat oval shape - with two parallel straight sides and semicircular ends (the shape resembles a running track). Running plugs are made for it. The classic elliptical pipe (where the contour is an even oval along the entire length) is a rare case and is usually ordered individually with a plug.

Sizes and execution are available

In the catalog there are plugs for the most common flat-oval profiles:

— 15x30 mm — for thin handrails, decorative fences, chair backs;
— 20x40 mm — for furniture frames, small simulators, children's products;
— 25×50 mm — for railings, stair railings, fences in public spaces;

Material — impact-resistant plastic with UV stabilizer; the shape of the cap is flat or slightly convex; the fit is internal (plug), held on the stiffeners. The default color is black.

How to choose the right plug

An inner plug requires three parameters:

— the major axis (the longer side of the oval);
— minor axis (shorter side of the oval);
— pipe wall thickness.

The wall thickness affects the internal fitting size: with the same external profile of 30x60 mm, pipes with a wall of 1.5 mm and 2.5 mm will have different openings. If in doubt, take a picture of the end with a caliper or ruler attached and send it to the manager: we will tell you the right model.

The oval pipe works primarily where metal is in contact with a person or must be ergonomically pleasant to the touch:
